Winter Scene...Summer B'Day
My youngest niece is turning two next week, and she is such a doll. My son being an only child, who never longed for a sibling before, absolutely adores her. He thinks his older cousin (nearly a year to the date older then he!) is pretty cool, too. And it is funny how at four and a half years old, we can not get out of anywhere fast enough if a baby is in sight. He always loved that it was the five of us (3 human family members and 2 of the four legged kind) but recently all I ever hear is how nice it would be to not only have one sibling, but to have a brother and sister. But then I gently remind him how more children means more busy time for mum and dad, which was working until he started commenting on how they would all make great company for each other during those busy times. It never ceases to amaze me how my preschool son can get in the greatest final words! But back to this card.....at a recent sleepover, where the grandparents had all three kids (imagine that- a house where the adults are near retirement and still have the energy to interact and entertain 3 children aged 5,4 and 2!- I love my folks) Riley packed up his penguin family of cuddlies (yes, he has a huge collection of cuddlies that each have their own family unit!), one which is a pink penguin named Glacier. Well, my niece adored it and Riley willingly let her have it until she started calling it 'mine'. This made him nervous. So with her birthday arriving, we thought a great gift would be her very own pink penguin to love and cherish like my son does his. Hence, a short story made huge, why we made the sparkly pink glacier penguin card. It coordinates with her gift!!!
